Coming into the tournament, Kudermetova is not in her groove. The 24-year old Russian made a shock second round exit from the French Open 2021. After that, Kudermetova participated in two grass court events but failed to make it past the Round of 16 in both of them. Kudermetova last played in Eastbourne International, where she made a first round exit, after Alison Riske demolished her in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
On the other hand, after exiting from Roland Garros in the first round itself, Golubic competed in a host of grass court tournaments. The 28-year old Swiss’s best performance though came in the Eastbourne International, where she lost a marathon quaterfinal against Anett Kontaveit 6-2, 6-7, 5-7. Golubic has picked up some sort of form at the right time but it remains to be seen whether she can carry it in the most prestigious Grand Slam tournament or not.
