Nick Kyrgios vs Gianluca Mager: Preview
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios was out of action for a long time before making a comeback at Wimbledon 2021. Despite facing a tough opponent in his first-round clash, Kyrgios was able to script a stupendous win. However, he had to battle hard in order to get past World No. 25 Ugo Humbert.
It was like a game of cat and mouse between Humbert and Kyrgios. After starting strongly in the first set, Kyrgios dropped the next two sets. However, the Australian again cornered Humbert in the fourth set and after a marathon fifth set, the game eventually ended with Kyrgios emerging victoriously.
Kyrgios scored as many as 23 aces in comparison to Humbert’s 13 which proved to be the difference in the game. On the other hand, Gianluca Mager was knocked out in the second round at the French Open 2021 by fellow countryman Jannik Sinner.
However, he would also draw a lot of positives from his last encounter. Mager even bageled his opponent Peter Gojowczyk in the second set of his first-round encounter and eventually ended up winning the contest by 7-6, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
