Wimbledon Championships

Wimbledon Championships is the oldest and the most prestigious tournament in the world. The tournament will once again be played at the All England Club, starting from next week. In 2020, Wimbledon was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Like always, the Championship will attract the world’s best tennis players male and female. The tournament will also see several experts and commentators covering the game. Not to forget, renowned reporters and media authorities too will be present at the SW19.

As far as broadcasting goes, around 1500-2000 broadcasters will work in the Broadcast Centre. During the first week, all 18 courts have live television coverage, dropping down from 11 in week 2, more than any other Grand Slam.

The fee that’s given by the international broadcasters are directed towards the British Lawn Tennis Association. As per the Wimbledon official website- Broadcasters are approached on a country-by-country basis with agreements designed to satisfy both cable, satellite and terrestrial broadcasters.

The BBC is one again your go-to place as BBC One, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the red button will have action. All matches will be broadcast in HD this year while there is also action on BBC Radio 5 live sport.

Eurosport UK will also broadcast action from Wimbledon while Eurosport will also cover most European countries.

ESPN and Tennis Channel cover the United States, TSN Canada will have coverage in Canada, Nine is the main broadcaster in Australia, Canal Plus International (Afrique) will service Africa and SuperSport will have action in South Africa.

Star Network for India

As far as Indian viewers are concerned, the telecast from the All England Club will be shown live on Star Channels. Star Select 1 and Star Select 2. Both channels will also have an HD version. Along with the two channels, Hot Star-OTT platform will also be showing the matches live from Wimbledon.

For viewers in Australia, Channel Nine will be showing the matches live. For New Zealand, Sky NZ will be bringing the action live. The tournament will kick-off on Monday, June 28. At the moment, the qualifiers are being played at the All England Club.
