Alexander Zverev

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev ends his 2021 Tour season with a 59-15 record and 6 titles to his name. Zverev won two ATP-500 titles, first in Acapulco and then in Vienna. He won two ATP-1000 Masters titles in Madrid on Clay and then in Cincinnati on hardcourts and also won the Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this year before finishing the season with the title at the 2021 ATP Finals.

Up against World No. 2 and the defending champion this year at the ATP Finals, Daniil Medvedev, Zverev won the title clash 6-4, 6-4 in 75 minutes to win his 2nd title at the Year-End Championships and end the season on a winning note in front of his family. Sascha fired eight aces and hit 23 winners while not facing a single break point while also limiting the Russian to only 1 winner in the first-set.

There is no better way to end the season than winning here. I am incredibly happy and I am already looking forward to next year. Things couldn’t be much better, to be honest. I’m obviously happy with how the season went. I’m happy with the finish of the season. It was obviously a great year. To capture the title here has been incredible. Give me the trophy!” said Zverev after the match.

  • Zverev is the fourth player in the ATP Finals history to defeat the top two players in the ATP rankings in the semi-finals (Djokovic) and final (Medvedev), joining Lendl (1982), Stefan Edberg (1989) and Andre Agassi (1990).
