Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev
In a much-awaited and one of the most anticipated clashes in the French Open 2021, second seed Daniil Medvedev will take on fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas on Wednesday. Both the players have played some high-quality tennis to make their way into the final 8.
Medvedev smashed Cristian Garin in the fourth round on Sunday in straight sets by 6-2, 6-1, 7-5 to confirm a seat in the quarter-finals. He punished Garin especially in the first two sets, eventually shattering his confidence. Moreover, he has lost just one set in the 4 matches he has played in the tournament thus far.
Medvedev has been pushed on the backfoot just once in the tournament. In the second-round clash against Tommy Paul, Medvedev was reduced to 3-6 in the first set. However, he made a thunderous comeback eventually winning the contest by 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. Since then, no one has really has been able to exert any pressure on the Russian.

On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas has also been second to none. Even he has lost just one set in the French Open 2021 so far. In his latest clash against Pablo Carreno Busta, Tsitsipas won in straight sets by 6-3, 6-2, 7-5. He has moved around the clay-court with great agility and his serves have been difficult to deal with for the opponents.
Tsitsipas went past Jérémy Chardy, Pedro Martínez, John Isner and Pablo Carreño Busta respectively to make his way into the top 8. Only the American tennis star John Isner was able to defeat Tsitsipas in one set, the rest were thrashed in straight sets.
Tsitsipas has undoubtedly lived up to the expectations of his fans. However, the Greek tennis star might not progress any further in the French Open 2021 as the odds of making into the semi-finals are definitely in the favor of Daniil Medvedev.
