DEVASTATING! Milos Raonic’s misfortunes continue as he is ruled out of the Australian Open 2022

Milos Raonic

If there is a player who embodies the sudden changing nature of the sporting world, it is Milos Raonic. Once a world number 3, the Canadian is currently languishing at 70th in the world rankings.

The Canadian has been absolutely battered with injuries that have hampered his progress for a long time now. Once one of the best players in the world outside the traditional Big 3, it just seems that the 30-year-old just cannot catch a break with his injury problems.

The injury problems have restricted him to playing just 4 ATP events during the 2021 season. The Canadian was last seen at the Atlanta Open, where he lost in his opening match to Brandon Nakashima.

Raonic has been dealing with multiple injuries since the start of the year. Just days before Wimbledon 2021, the Canadian released a statement saying that he had injured his calf during practice. Just when fans were expecting to see Raonic back on a tennis court in Australia next year, has now ruled himself out of the tournament again due to injury.

While the Canadian is yet to officially confirm his withdrawal, his eventual withdrawal from the Grand Slam looks inevitable at the moment.

In the little that he played this year, Raonic managed to reach the fourth round at the Australian Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic after putting up a tough fight. Even at Miami, the Canadian lost to the eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz in the pre-quarters in a three-set encounter. The 30-year-old has not had any match practice for a long time now.

Raonic joins the elite company of Federer, Serena Williams, Stan Wawrinka in missing the Australian Open

Along with Raonic, quite a few other stars will be missing the first Grand Slam of the new season. With Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Stan Wawrinka, Juan Martin del Potro are not going to participate for sure, stars like Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem are also a serious doubt for the tournament.

Milos Raonic has had to deal with scores of injuries throughout his career. Right from having hip surgery to consistent knee problems, the Canadian always played not just against the opponent but also fought his body.
