Monfils had earlier defeated Argentine Federico Coria in straight-sets and looks in great shape this week in New York.

Jannik Sinner reaches the 3rd round of the US Open for the first time as he defeats wildcard entrant Zachary Svajda 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-7(6), 6-4 in 3 hours and 34 minutes. This was Sinner’s 2nd 4-set victory as he also defeated Australian Max Purcell in 4-sets that saw him register his first ever win at the US Open after having failed to win his 1st round matches in his last 2 attempts.
