Karolina Muchova vs Angelique Kerber: Preview
Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, barring her second round match against Camila Giorgi where she took three sets to win, Muchova has looked at ease. Similar was the case in the fourth round match as the 24-year old Czech took down 30th-seed Paula Badosa Gibert in straight sets 7-6, 6-4.
On the other hand Kerber, after really having to dig in the second and the third round against Sara Sorribes Tormo and Aliaksandra Sasnovich, respectively, had to face even a sterner test in the form of 20th-seed Coco Gauff in the Round of 16. However, that’s where the 33-year old German used all her experience and gave it her all to cruise past young sensation Gauff in two sets with identical scoreline 6-4, 6-4.
Karolina Muchova vs Angelique Kerber: Head to Head
Prior to their meeting on the Court 1 of the Wimbledon, Kerber and Muchova have faced each other twice. They last met in Monterrey in 2019 in a Round of 16 encounter where Kerber breezed past her Czech counterpart in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Kerber won their first match as well, so the head-to-head record currently stands at 2-0 in the favour of the German superstar.
Karolina Muchova vs Angelique Kerber: Prediction
It’s a tough match to predict as both players are looking on top of their game. Having said that, Kerber is finally looking back in her groove and following her big win against Gauff, the 2018 Wimbledon champion should start as favourite. However, like in the previous rounds, Kerber will again have to slug it out and will have to overcome her fatigue in order to make it to the last-four stage. As for Muchova, another win and the Czech will register her best performance on the hallowed grass courts of Wimbledon.
Match Prediction: Angelique Kerber defeats Karolina Muchova in a hard-fought, three-set encounter.
