Martina Navratilova, the former Czech-American player and former World No 1, is considered among the greatest tennis players of all time. Navratilova won 18 singles Grand Slam titles, 31 major women’s doubles titles, and 10 major mixed doubles titles, for a combined total of 59 major titles, the highest number of Grand Slams by a player in the Open era.
Recently, US President Joe Biden proposed a prisoner swap between two jailed Basketball athletes Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan serving punishment in a Russian prison in exchange for an infamous Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Donald Trump, former US President, during a radio show interview, expressed his disapproval of the US Government’s idea for a potential swap that would see Griner released from prison in Russia.
Martina Navratilova takes a dig at Donald Trump once again for his obnoxious behavior
On her social media account Twitter, Navratilova shared a post lashing out at former US President Donald Trump‘s take on the issue by discriminating against black and lesbian people and criticized his obnoxious behavior toward people. She said, “But if course- a black lesbian- what else would he possibly say?”
She further added that the Russians are considered over the Americans, especially the discrimination is more against black people. She added, “Plus, TFG always sides with Russia, not America“. She called Trump to be behaving like a douchebag something which did not go down well at all with her.
This is not the first time Navratilova has criticized the former US President. Previously, when a post came regarding a burger joint being named after the former President as the owner was a big fan of Trump. Upon finding the post, she retweeted it with a caption of 3 vomiting emojis, indicating her disapproval.
She has always been upfront with her views by sharing her opinions on various matters on the social media platform on the issues related to rights and opportunities for transgenders and even many political matters. She has expressed her desire to get into politics and do public service quite often. Apart from being a legend in tennis, she is a social activist fighting for animal rights and underprivileged children. Navratilova is critical of allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports and even showed her frustration after Lia Thomas was nominated for the ‘NCAA Woman of the Year ‘.
