The first Grand Slam title of the year, the 2024 Australian Open, is around the corner, and many tennis enthusiasts have revealed their favorites heading into the tournament. Recently, Alex Corretja also revealed a name set to win the Slam while also listing the possible candidates who will make the tournament interesting.
The former Spanish player and coach backs up the likes of Novak Djokovic to have a successful title defense in Australia. However, in terms of physical fitness, the former coach of Andy Murray believes that the younger generation is going strong with their physical fitness and has improved since last year. And these players can pose a threat to Djokovic and his next title win.
He is the main favorite; I think it's going to be one of the most Australian Opens we had in the last few years because we have several players that can do very well and are playing their best, physically.Said Corretja on Eurosports.
Recently, the youngsters have been making headlines by causing major upsets in certain tournaments. With the players evolving with every game, Corretja reckons that these players are growing faster and stronger to withstand the 5-set tournament and can be a serious threat to world No. 1. Djokovic has an incredible record at the Australian Open but will now have to go through an entire list of talented players to successfully defend his title.

Alex Corretja, the Spanish tennis player and coach, was in an interview with Eurosports, where he spoke about the upcoming tournament and year for the tennis players.
He named a few players who could give Novak Djokovic a hard time during his title defense. He predicts Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to have a good run in Australia, along with the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, and Andrey Rublev.
Shockingly, the Spaniard also names Sebastian Korda and Ben Shelton as contenders to pose a challenge to Novak Djokovic. Even Stefanos Tsitsipas was named as a possible contender after having a decent 2023 season.
I'm sure that [Carlos] Alcaraz is ready to do well. I'm sure that Sinner is going to be ready to do well.
