Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur got annoyed as he was bombarded with questions about Jannik Sinner after he lost to the Italian tennis ace in the Rotterdam final.

After his straight-set defeat to Sinner, de Minaur’s campaign at the ATP 500 event ended, and the 25-year-old’s dream to lift his first title of the 2024 season was shattered.

It was de Mianur’s seventh consecutive defeat against Sinner who recently clinched his maiden Grand Slam title, at the 2024 Australian Open. The Australian, although he lauded Sinner for his incredible play, was not too pleased with the persistent questions about his opponent.

Alex de Minaur eventually lost his cool during the post-match press conference when he asked reporters to not ask questions about Sinner. The Australian said that while he holds Sinner in high regard and loves the way the Italian is playing, he does not want to answer any further questions about him.

Look you always ask me about Jannik, and I've got nothing but good words to say about Jannik and I always say the same thing. I think he is an incredible kid, he's humble, he has all the right values and he is playing unbelievable tennis. But please, I don't wanna answer more questions about Jannik, thank you.

Alex de Minaur also jokingly posted about not liking Sinner on his Instagram.

A trophy is around the corner for Alex de Minaur

While there is no doubt that Alex de Minaur respects Jannik Sinner, the annoyance might have stemmed from the heartbreak he faced in Rotterdam. The Australian failed to turn the tables against Sinner even on the seventh attempt. However, he is determined to get back at his nemesis, as de Minaur warned Sinner.

The Australian has had a great start to the 2024 season. Alex de Minaur starred at the 2024 United Cup with his four wins against top players- Cameron Norrie, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Novak Djokovic. The Australian also did a great job at the Australian Open, reaching the fourth round on the back of convincing wins.

Now, in Rotterdam, de Minaur reached the final and was one win away from his first title of the season. Although he was denied this chance by Sinner, the 25-year-old looks determined to land one soon.

De Mianur has only matured in his play and is now able to convert his good starts into victories. It is to be seen when he wins his first title of the season.
