Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev are set to face each other in the semi-finals of the 2023 China Open and the German is apparently fed up facing the Russian by now. Zverev vs. Medvedev has become one of the most common clashes that fans have seen lately. In fact, the two have faced each other four times this year already. Thus, it is correct for World No. 10 to opine that he is bored of having to face Daniil Medvedev.

“It seems like we have to play each other every tournament this year. It’s the 5th time we’re gonna play each other. Every time we play, it’s a battle. I’m looking forward to what’s to come. He’s playing great tennis. I hope I can bring my A game,” said Zverev on facing Medvedev in the semifinals of the China Open in his on-court interview after defeating Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the quarters of the tournament.

Both Zverev and Medvedev have had great individual campaigns in the tournament so far. The German beat Diego Schwartzman, Davidovich Fokina, and Nicolas Jarry, respectively, to reach the semifinals, while Medvedev beat Tommy Paul, Alex de Minaur, and Ugo Humbert to reach the semis.

The winner of the semifinal clash between Medvedev and Zverev will face the winner of the other semi-final in the final, i.e., either Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner. The Russian, having been the runner-up of the 2023 US Open, which took place recently, is the favorite in this match.

Medvedev beat Zverev in the Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, and Rome Opens before finally suffering a defeat to the German in the Cincinnati Open. Zverev will have a chance to make the tally 9-8 in the upcoming match. Either that or the Russian will further extend his record against the German.
