Andy Murray believes that whatever happened in the 2022 edition of the Laver Cup was true ‘very special’. This was the last game Roger Federer played before his retirement. In the last match of his career, the Swiss great teamed up with another great Rafael Nadal.

Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, and Matteo Berrettini came together to represent Team Europe as they take on Team World. It was an emotional moment.

Murray in a recent interview talked about what it was like to play at the last match of Roger Federer’s career. “It was strange, even the few days before Roger and Rafa played together,” he said. “When Roger finished, seeing him there with his family, the feeling of all the players, the crowd, it was very special and a nice way for his career to finish, playing alongside his biggest rival and friend Rafa.”

He further added: “I was feeling quite emotional because we were doing a lot of interviews and being asked a lot about the last 15 years of our careers. Although it wasn’t me who was stopping, I never thought that much about this period in my life, the matches I played and things like that. It was bringing back a lot of memories.”

The British player believes that Carlos Alcaraz will remain a formidable force on the court for years to come. He sees the Spaniard remaining amongst the top three for many years to come.
