Ash Barty continues to give fans happiness despite staying away from the Tour. Having retired back in March 2022, the former World No. 1 recently confirmed her return to the sport. While she won’t be wielding her racket, she would rather be the mentor to Olivia Gadecki at the upcoming 2023 Australian Open.
Barty’s last official match was the 2022 Australian Open final. After a whole year, she will return to the hallowed Melbourne Park and undoubtedly be given a grand reception. Barty’s win at the Grand Slam last year made her the first Australian to win the singles title in 44 years. The win saw her win her record fifth Newcombe Medal, Australia’s highest tennis honor.
The 3-time Grand Slam champion announced her engagement to golfer Garry Kissick back in November 2021. The couple has been together since 2017. Months after her retirement from tennis, Barty wedded Kissick in July 2022. With fans of the couple in awe of them, Barty and Kissick announced another big news today.
Taking to their Instagram accounts, the duo posted a photo of their pet dog Origi and baby shoes confirming they are about to welcome their first child. “2023 set to be the best year yet. We are so excited for our new adventure. Origi already the protective big sister,” captioned Barty. Kissick added a different picture with a baby jersey of Liverpool Football Club with the caption, “Little Red, 2023.”

Ash Barty and Garry Kissick’s love for Liverpool Football Club
With Australians known for their love of sports, Ash Barty and Garry Kissick are no different. Barty was herself a cricketer in the Women’s Big Bash League and is also an amateur golfer. Kissick is a massive football fan and his love for England’s Liverpool Football Club is no more news. His Instagram handle itself has the club’s abbreviation.
Even their pet dog, Origi, takes her name from Liverpool’s former forward Divock Origi, who played 107 matches for the Merseyside club netting 22 goals. With Kissick’s post containing a photo of Liverpool, it won’t be a surprise if the baby grows up supporting Liverpool.
The couple did not reveal the tentative date of birth of their kid. While the couple has shared their personal milestones on social media, they have always done it a couple of days after the event as both their engagement and marriage was made public later.
