Former Australian tennis ace Ashleigh (Ash) Barty, who hung up her racket at the end of 2022 after she had won her home Grand Slam to back a title at The Championships, returned to the tennis court not as a player but as a coach. The 27-year-old turned coach for her nieces as Barty made the little ones understand how to ace a forehand as well as a backhand.
Meanwhile, her newborn was also around, enjoying a “snooze in the shade” while his mom played some tennis out there in the middle. Barty also shared a picture with her son, wherein she made him hold a tiny racket.
“Back to red ball. Coaches seemed happy enough. Spectator just enjoyed a snooze in the shade,” Barty captioned the post she shared on her social media handles.
Will Ash Barty follow Caroline Wozniacki’s footsteps in making a comeback on the tour?
Ever since Ash Barty became a mother, there have been talks about the Australian returning on the tour. While the likes of Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka backed Barty to make a comeback, the fans have also been demanding the 27-year-old to come out of retirement.
However, Barty seems to be firm in her decision to stay out of professional tennis as she has quashed all such rumors of her following Caroline Wozniacki’s footsteps. Barty, who said that she is retiring because she has no physical and emotional drive left to compete at the highest level, has reiterated her point.
While in November 2022, the Australian confirmed she has no plans of making a comeback while launching her autobiography, she reconfirmed it recently at an event to announce the return of the Brisbane International. Barty said that she has no time to train, and that she has a lot of memories already and wants to create new ones now.
“I don’t have the time – I don’t have the time to train, I don’t have the time to prepare, and I have so many great memories out on this court, and now I just get to create new memories,” Barty said. I’m certainly not coming out of retirement,” said Barty, as per Sydney Morning Herald.
