Novak Djokovic had a late start to the year due to his unvaccinated status and had to miss playing at the Australian Open and hence failed to defend his title. He was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the French Open where he also couldn’t defend his title. He even couldn’t participate in the North American swing and due to his long absence from the Tour, he lost his top spot in the ATP rankings.

Within all turmoil, he clinched his 21st Grand Slam title at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship defeating Nick Kyrgios in the finals in 4 sets. He also won the Tel Aviv Open singles title defeating Marin Cilic in straight sets without dropping a set. Djokovic defeated Christian Garin in the first round of the Astana Open to advance into the second round and has been able to win his last five matches in a row without losing a set.

Botic van de Zandschulp defeated Beibit Zhukayev in the first round in straight sets 6-1,6-1. He was eliminated in the second round of the US Open by lucky loser Corentin Moutet. He had reached his maiden ATP Tour final at the Bavarian International Tennis Championships.

This will be the first time both the players will be playing against each other. So their head-to-head stands at 0-0.

But with Djokovic’s flawless performances and superb form, the Dutch stands no chance to win against the Serbian.
