After beating compatriot Andrey Rublev in the opener in Turin, third seed Daniil Medvedev is already off to a good start at the prestigious ATP Finals. The Russian ace claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Rublev in his first match.

At the Paris Masters event previously, the 29-year-old suffered a defeat in the opener, where he lost to the tournament runner-up, Grigor Dimitrov. Medvedev made the finals at the China Open and the Vienna Open but suffered a defeat against Jannik Sinner, who claimed both titles.

On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz suffered a stinging defeat in his opening match in the group stage round against seventh seed Alexander Zverev. The German claimed a win in the first match, beating the Wimbledon winner 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, to start his campaign with a bang.

Alcaraz is playing his first ATP Finals tournament in Turin after having played at only 17 events this season so far. At the Bercy Open, Alcaraz was ousted from the event after he lost his first match to unseeded Russian pro-Roman Safiullin.
