It will another sensational battle between the 21-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal and Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Madrid Open. While Nadal has never lost against the teenager it will be a tough test for him as well as he returns on tour after getting sidelined due to injury and will be facing the Barcelona Open winner who is in sublime form in the Spanish capital.

Both the players are coming to this match after hard-fought wins in the last round. While Rafael Nadal saved four match points against David Goffin as he won  6-3, 5-7, 7-6(9), in three hours and nine minutes of gruelling encounter whereas Alcaraz got the better of Cameron Norrie in a three set thriller.  So it will be interesting to see who out of the two Spaniards from different generations come out on top and progresses to the semifinals.

This will be the third meeting between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz and the 35-year-old has a perfect 2-0 head to head record. The last time they met was at the semifinals of the Indian Wells where Nadal got injured and still defeated the Spanish teenager.

The quarterfinal clash between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal at the Madrid Open is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST and it will take place at the prestigious Manolo Santana centre court as the stands are supposed to be stacked with the locals experiencing a battle between two generations of Spaniards.
