Andy Roddick comes out in support of Novak Djokovic who continues to bore the consequence of Wimbledon points ban as the World No. 7 wins back-to-back titles
Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick
We all know the history between former World No.1 Novak Djokovic and 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick. They have had plenty of banters between themselves on the past on social media and clearly, most of those conversations left us with a sour taste.
However, now Roddick has come to the defense of his earlier opposite saying the Serb should have been awarded points for winning Wimbledon and the current No.7 ranking for Djokovic clearly doesn’t reflect tennis reality.
Tennis fans on Twitter were also quick to jump in on the conversation, with some expressing surprise over Roddick’s sudden U-turn and others joining in on the praise. One such user wrote, “The ATP was stupid to punish players instead of Wimbledon” (in the aftermath of UK banning Russian players due to Ukraine conflict).
Watch the whole saga unfold in Twitter reactions below:
However, one Twitter user shifted the conversation to another tangent when he suggested Djokovic could have gained those same points back had he been vaccinated and been allowed to compete in some other Grand Slams, such as the Australian or the US.
But he was shunned on the micro-blogging platform as many users tried to explain to him that he was being unreasonable and needed to be educated about how Wimbledon was totally different. Read below:

Minister suggests Novak Djokovic could remain banned for 3 years from Australian Open
Recently, Australian Shadow Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said Djokovic should not be allowed to flout rules and compete in Melbourne next year just because he enjoys financial power or is unique for certain reasons.
Speaking to Virginia Trioli on the Mornings radio show, Andrews also said that there could be a possibility that Djokovic remains banned for three years considering he had to be deported for flouting similar vaccination rules in 2022 as well.
“It would be a slap in the face for those people in Australia who did the right thing… if all of a sudden, Novak Djokovic is allowed back into the country, simply because he is a high-ranking tennis player with many millions of dollars,” she said.
