Jannik Sinner vs. Andrey Rublev: Match Preview

Both, Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev have performed exceptionally well in the Australian Open so far. While it is true that Rublev struggled comparatively more en route to the quarterfinals, it’s also true that he arguably faced tougher opponents in Thiago Seyboth Wild, Christopher Eubanks, Sebastian Korda, and Alex de Minaur. His matches against Alex de Minaur and Seyboth Wild were particularly interesting

Sinner also faced players like Sebastian Baez and Karen Khachanov but his route to the quarterfinals was much more relaxed. The Italian won all his matches in straight sets and did not seem to struggle much. Moreover, only his matches against Botic van de Zandschulp and Karen Khachanov needed a tie-break in a set, which shows the sheer dominance with which he won all his matches.

Jannik Sinner vs. Andrey Rublev: Prediction

Sinner and Rublev have faced each other a total of six times so far. Out of those six matches, Sinner has won four, while Rublev has won two. In 2023 itself, they played two matches against each other at the Vienna and Miami Opens. Both matches were won by Sinner in straight sets, which shows that he not only has the lead in head-to-head matches but has also been in much better form lately compared to the Russian.

This clearly makes the Italian the favorite to win this match against Rublev. However, Andrey Rublev should definitely not be written off as he is pretty well known for being a very competitive player and he has what it takes to go the distance against the Italian. He had shown it in the Round of 16 match of the 2022 French Open, where he beat Jannik Sinner.

Prediction: Andrey Rublev to win in four sets
