Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam champion, faced a first-round exit at the French Open 2022. She chose not to play at the All England Club owing to her Achilles injury. She also could not defend her title at the Australian Open 2022. She is set to make her return to the court at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic event which starts on 1st August 2022.

She has been very vocal about mental fitness as equally important and essential for a player besides physical fitness. She first spoke about it at the French Open 2021 when she denied appearing at the post-match interview and also announced her exit from the tournament owing to the same.

Naomi Osaka made her first WTA main draw appearance in the year 2014 at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic. Then, as a 16-year-old girl, she had the chance to meet the champion, Serena Williams, as a teenager and she was left in awe and totally inspired by the American player. On her debut appearance, she could not go past the second round but made her presence with her performance in the first round match.

Recently, Osaka on her social media in Twitter shared a small five-second video where she can be seen taking a selfie with the 23-time Grand Slam champion. She captioned it as the ‘Best day of her life‘. The video was originally shared by the event organizers to welcome her back with the much-required motivation.

The Japanese player is set to make her comeback to the Mubadala Silicon Valley tournament as a wild-card entrant followed by the National Banks Open in Toronto and is desperate for some match practice time just ahead of the US Open 2022.
