Coco Gauff edges Marta Kostyuk to reach the semi-final of the 2024 Australian Open.

World No. 4 Coco Gauff is facing Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. The American has been in superb form this season. Starting off by winning the ASB Classic in Auckland, Gauff has been not messing up anytime soon. Even in the Grand Slam, the American has not dropped a set till now.
Marta Kostyuk started well with her serves putting real pressure on the 19-year-old. At one point in time, Gauff was left with a lot of distance to cover.

As she was trailing by 1-4 in the first set. However, the World No.4 came back strongly with consecutive break points. And then equalizing the Ukrainian with a fierce serve. With some good performances and errors from Kostyuk’s side, Gauff sealed the first set and clinched the advantage going into the match.
Witnessing this impressive comeback from Gauff in the stands was her mother, Candi Gauff. She was caught in the camera when a ball flew off to her. As she threw the ball back, she was seen doing her happy dance in the stands. Gauff’s mother is frequently seen in the stands, accompanying her on the Tours.
The quarterfinal between Coco Gauff and Marta Kostyuk is turning out to be no short of a cinema
After a marathon first set between the two players in which Gauff emerged victorious, the 21-year-old Ukrainian came back strongly in the second set of the match.

Gauff was leading the match for most of the time in the second set. However, Kostyuk came back strongly, taking the match to the tiebreaker.
The Ukrainian had the upper hand over the American in the tiebreak as she emerged victorious. This was the first time in the Australian Open 2024 that Gauff lost a set. In the third set, the young prodigy started off in a dominating fashion, as the match was 4-0 to the 19-year-old.
