The Laver Cup is one of the most exciting events in tennis, and it is about to get even more exciting this year with the addition of Holger Rune to the Team Europe roster. Rune, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the world and was a former junior World No. 1, has been named as the third member of the six-player team, joining the likes of world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas and world No. 6 Andrey Rublev.
Rune‘s inclusion in the team comes after a phenomenal season for the young player. He won his first ATP Masters title in Paris last November, beating five top 10 players in the process. He also made it to the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this year and won the Munich title just last week.
Speaking about his inclusion in the team, Rune expressed his excitement and gratitude at being given the opportunity to play in the Laver Cup. “I’m so honored to be part of Team Europe in Vancouver this year,” he said. “I’ve watched the Laver Cup over the past few years and love the event. The competition is so intense, and getting to really know the personalities of your rivals is so unique. It has been a goal of mine to make the team, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
The Laver Cup, which was created in honor of tennis legend Rod Laver, is a three-day event that pits Team Europe against Team World. The event features a unique format, with singles and doubles matches played over the course of the three days. The first team to reach 13 points wins the tournament.
This year’s event is set to take place in Vancouver, Canada, from September 22 to 24 at the Rogers Arena. With Holger Rune joining the likes of Tsitsipas and Rublev on the Team Europe roster, fans are in for a thrilling tournament that is sure to showcase some of the best tennis talent from around the world.

Team Europe is looking to continue its dominance at the Laver Cup this year, with a star-studded roster and legendary captain Bjorn Borg leading the way. Having won four of the five editions of the tournament thus far, the pressure is on for Team Europe to maintain their winning streak.
Bjorn Borg expressed his confidence in the team’s newest addition, Holger Rune, stating that the young player has had an impressive season and has proven himself capable of defeating some of the world’s best tennis players. With Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and now Rune on the team, Team Europe is poised for a strong showing at the Laver Cup. “Holger has had a really impressive season and is one of the leading players of the next generation,” said Borg.
But they won’t have an easy path to victory, as Team World is bringing in a formidable squad of their own. Led by captain John McEnroe, the team includes Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios. Team World is coming off their first-ever win at the Laver Cup last year and will be looking to defend their title in Vancouver.
With both teams boasting impressive talent and experience, the Laver Cup promises to be a thrilling tournament for tennis fans. The event will take place from September 22 to 24 at the Rogers Arena, and all eyes will be on Team Europe and Team World as they battle it out for tennis supremacy.
