Two-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud is currently in the beautiful town of Turin, Italy to square off against the top 7 players as per the ATP rankings in the season-ending prestigious tournament, the 2022 ATP Finals. Ruud has managed to string together yet another incredible season thanks to his consistent performances in some of the most important tournaments throughout 2022. The Norwegian then managed to reach his second ATP Finals, much to the delight of his viewers.

With that being said, there is no denying the fact that he is loving every moment of his time in Turin. However, what caught viewers’ interest almost immediately was when the tennis sensation started talking about his grandmothers. As per the popular personality himself, although he didn’t get to invite his grandmothers to his events and tournaments often, he is absolutely excited about the presence of his grandmothers during his second stint at the 2022 ATP Finals.

In the pre-tournament conference, he further revealed a hilarious reason to bring his grandmothers to watch the year-end tournament.

They don’t come too often to watch my matches. Sometimes they get a little frustrated that I don’t invite them enough. They are great, but like all grandmothers, they are sometimes a little too present. But of course, I love them and it’s nice for them to be here for the first time,” Ruud said.

The Norwegian will start his campaign at the ATP Finals 2022 by playing against World No. 6 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Group Stage match. His grandmothers will be cheering for him out loud.

Casper Ruud had a great season this year. He started the season by competing in the ATP Cup for Norway. He was looking great, and all set to play in the Australian Open. However, he, unfortunately, had to withdraw due to an ankle injury.

He restarted his season with participation in the Argentina Open where he defeated Diego Schwartzman in the final despite losing the first set. He went to the USA with extreme motivation and confidence; however, he could not translate that into results. He was knocked out in the third round by Nick Kyrgios of the Indian Wells Open. He though reached the final of the Miami Open. Here, he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

The Norwegian struggled on Clay surfaces earlier on as he was knocked out of the Madrid Open in the second round. But soon he found his rhythm as he made it to the semi-finals round of the Italian Open but was defeated in straight sets by Novak Djokovic. He subsequently won the Geneva Open. He also reached the final of the French Open, but he was blown off by Rafael Nadal in the Championship match.

The 23-year-old struggled on a grass court as he was knocked out of the Wimbledon and Nordea Open in the second round itself. But he followed these disappointments by winning the Gstaad Open. He reached the final of the US Open, but this time, another Spaniard and World No. 1, Carlos Alcaraz shattered his dream of winning a Grand Slam this year.

He is struggling to find his form since then. However, he managed to qualify for the ATP Finals. It will be a tough ask for him to win the prestigious tournament but we hope that he will dazzle the event with his abilities and breathtaking skills.
