“Control and oppression of women,” Martina Navratilova blatantly compares the anti-abortion law for women in the US to women being forced to wear a hijab worldwide
Martina Navratilova
American tennis icon Martina Navratilova has once again spoken against the anti-abortion law that was implemented in the US a few months ago. The US Supreme Court overturned the 1973 ruling which provided a constitutional right to abortion. After this ruling, it came up to the states to decide whether they want to make the abortion process legal or not.
Roughly half of the states of the US, which are mostly ruled by the Republicans, are most likely to ban abortion. Navratilova has been very vocal against the anti-abortion ruling right from the very start and has once again spoken about it. Quoting one of the tweet by Will Bunch where he spoke about the atrocities against women, Navratilova compared the anti-abortion law for women in the US to women being forced to wear a hijab worldwide.
The American legend said that the same people who think it’s wrong to force women to wear a hijab think it’s ok to force women to carry a child to term. She called out such people and said that both things are equally wrong. Both are about one thing only- control and oppression of women.
“Indeed. Same people who think it’s wrong to force women to wear a hijab think it’s ok to force women to carry a child to term …. They are both wrong and are about one thing and thing only- control and oppression of women. Period.” Martina wrote on Twitter.
