The American star, Sebastian Korda is disappointed to go down with an injury in what happened to be an extraordinary campaign so far. He was down two sets 7-6(7-5), 6-3, and 0-3 in the third set when he retired. The 22-year-old later revealed that it was a wrist injury that ended his Australian Open.
In the post-match press conference, Korda revealed that he had been suffering from the wrist injury since the Adelaide International. Novak Djokovic beat him in that finals and won the title. The young Australian looked fine throughout the tournament but unfortunately, the pain kicked in at the wrong time and he paid the price.
In the post-match interview, he talked about his injury and said “I knew what it was right away. I kind of felt that spot that I was feeling before. Some forehands, I couldn’t even hold the racket. Volleying was almost impossible for me. So it was a little tough. There is a lot of positives.”
He further continued talking about his injury and said “I mean, way more positives than even negatives. Today was tough, but hopefully, it’s nothing serious and I can take care of it so I don’t have it in the future. I’m going to go forward with my head high and keep working. “I had it a little bit in Adelaide a couple weeks ago, but then it went away. During the matches, it was completely fine. Then just one kind of mishit return, and it started to bother me a lot of after that

Coming into this match, Sebastian had some big wins under his name. He won the third round against Daniil Medvedev and the fourth round against Hubert Hurkacz. Fans and experts anticipated an even contest but his injury had different plans as he couldn’t play freely. Khachanov had 27 winners in the match before it stopped and he broke the American’s serve four times.
Fans and the tennis world wished him a speedy recovery and a strong comeback. On the other hand, Karen Khachanov will face the winner of Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Jiri Lehecka in the semifinals. Khachanov will be looking to make it count and go deeper in the tournament. All in all, it will another thrilling semifinal in the Australian Open on Thursday in Melbourne Park.
