Carlos Alcaraz has definitely been the stand-out player of the season. He had a good run at the Australian Open to start the season and then won his maiden ATP 500 title in Rio. In the Golden Swing, he reached the semifinals at Indian Wells and then won his maiden Masters title in Miami. On clay, he won the Barcelona Open and the Madrid Masters where he defeated Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in consecutive matches. He reached the quarterfinals of the French Open and the Round of 16 in Wimbledon.

Last week, he had a runner-up finish at the Hamburg European Open. This week, he has beaten the likes of Norbert Gombos and Facundo Bagnis before getting past Giulio Zeppieri in the semifinal in three sets 7-5,4-6,6-3.

Jannik Sinner has been very consistent this season. He made it to the quarterfinal of the Australian Open and also made it to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Miami Masters. He had two other last 8 finishes at Monte Carlo and Rome before getting knocked out in the Round of 16 of the French Open. He had a spirited Wimbledon campaign where he pushed Novak Djokovic to five sets in the quarterfinals. He has been very dominant this week at Umag and is yet to drop a set. He defeated Jaume Munar and Roberto Carballés Baena in the early rounds and got the better of Franco Agamenone in the semifinals in straight sets 6-2,6-1.
