Daniil Medvedev has been left in awe of a young child, who was seen emulating his playing style on social media. The little kid is seen practising the Russian’s iconic octopus playing style, which is by all means pretty non-conventional. In a video uploaded on social media, the 2021 US Open champion heaped praise on the youngster.
The kid has been recorded taking swings, in a style which is pretty similar to Daniil Medvedev. The Russian was impressed by the youngster’s talent, and commented that he was inspiring a new generation of tennis players. Daniil Medvedev recently reached the finals of the 2023 US Open, where he was handed a straight-sets defeat by Novak Djokovic.
“Inspiring new generations everywhere,” Daniil Medvedev commented on the social media post. The Twitter account is thought to be operated by the child’s parents, who were delighted with the Russian’s comment. They recalled a moment from 2021, where they witnessed him in action live in the stadium, with their younger one.
Daniil Medvedev labelled as ‘true inspiration’ as child emulates his iconic playing style
In response to his comments on the child’s playing style, Daniil Medvedev was labelled as a true inspiration for the younger generation. “You are a true inspiration! In 2021 , when you played with Gaston, there was only one screaming for you. An you give to him the best lesson .Very impressive match. He was asking us to scream with him , so you can hear us and feel our support,” the user commented.
Daniil Medvedev had a pretty good run at the 2023 US Open, as he reached the finals of the event for the third time in his last five attempts. Unlike in 2021, the Russian was handed a straight sets defeat by the newly crowned world number one, who went on to claim his 24th Major title.
The next biggest test for Daniil Medvedev would be at the Shanghai Masters, which returns to the tour in early October. The tournament is taking place after a long gap of four years, as the Russian enters the tournament as the defending champion.
