Russian sensation Daniil Medvedev has been outstanding in the 2023 season, where he won a few tournaments and landed himself in the finals of the US Open. Currently, the Russian is playing at the Vienna Open as the defending champion and just landed in the finals after a phenomenal semi-final triumph.
Daniil was up against one of his all-time rivals, Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was also determined to give it his all and qualify for the ATP finals. The match was one of the toughest in the tournament, as neither player gave away free points, and Daniil, who was just better, capitalized on a small opening and won the match. The final score was 6-4, 7-6(6), with the Russian booking a seat in the finals against Jannik Sinner.

This victory marks the 64th win for the Russian in this calendar year and even surpasses Carlos Alcaraz in the points table. With this win, Daniil also received a whopping prize of $600,000 for being the best in the 500-category tournaments. Carlos, who has 1480 points, was in the number one position until Daniil’s recent win, with which he overtook the Spaniard with 1570 points.

The Russian played his 13th match against Stefanos, and this win marked his 9th win against the Greek. He now prepares for his last match of the tournament against Jannik Sinner.
