Rod Laver Arena witnessed another epic semi-final clash. Having witnessed a huge upset previously, the fans were not ready for what the next contest held. Alexander Zverev was up against his long-term rival, Daniil Medvedev.
Both players were evenly matched as they fought hard for every point. On-point with their shots, they challenged one another to the wire. Zverev took an early lead in the match by winning the first two sets. With over 76% of first-serve points, the German managed to control the flow of points.

While his opponent had more number of aces (13), Zverev won more games, allowing him to take a huge two-set lead in the all-exciting semi-finals.
The semi-finals wouldn’t have gotten interesting if it weren’t for the consistency of Medvedev. Proving his position at World No. 3, the Russian fought extremely hard to hold his games in the third set before winning the tiebreak with ease.
He stopped Zverev from finishing the match in straight sets and tried to dig himself out of a huge rabbit hole. With his iconic serves and deadly forehands, the Russian managed to equal the match.
With a few more blinders, Medvedev had capitalized on Zverev’s frustration and won the match in style. Daniil Medvedev won 5-7, 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(5), 6-3 to make his place in the finals.
Daniil Medvedev set to face Jannik Sinner in the all-exciting Australian Open finals
Alexander Zverev took on the No. 3 seed, Daniil Medvedev, in another electrifying semi-final. Both players were evenly matched, as Zverev soon lost his two-set lead, allowing his opponent to take the game into a deciding fifth set.
After choking initially, Medvedev played lights-out tennis to win the match.

With perfect precision and strength, he fought his way to victory. Zverev was just points away from stealing the match in straight sets but his opponent found his way right back, winning important sets and the match eventually.
Medvedev will face the deadly Italian Jannik Sinner, who is fresh off a career-best win. The Italian caused a huge upset in the semi-finals by beating Novak Djokovic and recorded his best run in Melbourne. While this is Sinner’s first-ever Grand Slam final, Medvedev has already been to two Australian Open finals.
With more confidence than the previous outings, the Russian is surely one of the strong favorites heading into the match as he aims for another Grand Slam.
