Daniil Medvedev, the 26-year-old Russian tennis professional has cemented his position as one of the best tennis players in the world currently. The former world number 1 has been struggling for form recently but he looks towards changing his fortune around at the Astana Open.

Medvedev recently failed to defend his US Open title. The Russian came to the tournament with a lot of expectations but he was unable to do justice to it after a string of disappointing performances at the US Open. The Russian is now competing at the Astana Open in Kazakhstan.

Medvedev recently reflected on his journey as he returned to play in Astana. He said, “I was definitely a lot crazier on the court. A lot of people don’t believe it. I wanted to win, I wanted to climb the rankings at that time. In life, I was pretty easygoing, as I still think I am. I would like to think that fame and fortune haven’t influenced me at all.

But there will always be people around me who, if you ask them, will say, ‘He may have changed a bit. I try to be honest with myself, which is not always easy for others. In life, there are always people who like what you do and others who don’t.”

Daniil Medvedev makes his way into the third round of the Astana Open

After not being able to compete in the Laver Cup and taking part in Roger Federer’s farewell, Daniil Medvedev is now participating at the Astana Open. The Russian professional has made it into the third round of the tournament. Medvedev faced Spani’s Albert Ramos Viñolas in the first round of the tournament which he won very comfortably in straight sets.

In the second round, Medvedev went up against Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori. The Russian clinched a comfortable victory against Ruusuvuori as well as he makes his way into the third round where he will be facing Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut.
