Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev made it to the record books as he joined an elite list of players. He became only the fourth player in history to make it to the final of eight different hard court events. The Russian is slowly but surely creating a name for himself in tennis history.

Daniil Medvedev has been playing his best tennis over the past couple of years. Currently ranked No. 3 in the World, he is one of the best players on the tour right now. He has contested in five Grand Slam final, winning his first and only Grand Slam title at the US Open 2021, defeating Novak Djokovic. He defeated some of the best players, like Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic to win the title. However, among his five Grand Slam final appearances, they have all been on hard courts, with three at the US Open and two at the Australian Open.

Daniil Medvedev had made people question his game after his self-proclamation as the ‘Hard court specialist’. However, he has put his money where his mouth is by joining an elite list of athletes to become only the fourth player to reach the finals of eight hard court tournaments. He joins Andre Agassi, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, three of the biggest names in the sport, to do so.

Medvedev is still going strong in his 2023 season. He is now set to face Jannik Sinner in the final of the Vienna Open 2023, another hard court tournament. He will hope to defend his title at Vienna, where he won the title last year defeating Denis Shapovalov.

A look into Daniil Medvedev’s career on hard courts

Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev is truly a master of the hard courts. He has six Masters 1000 titles to his name, out of which five are on the hard courts. He has also played in five Grand Slam finals, winning of them. All of these matches were on the hard courts.

The Russian has a total of 20 ATP titles under his belt. Out of these titles, 18 were on the hard courts. He is set to take part in the Vienna Open final, where he will hope to defend his title. He will play against Jannik Sinner.

The former US Open champ is the holder of two ATP Finals titles. Other than these, the Russian also holds 4 ATP 500 titles. Needless to say, Medvedev is one of the best players of his generation.
