The 2024 Australian Open comes to an end as Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner fight for the ultimate prize. After 15 days of constant survival, two people remain and after tonight, only one champion remains.

In another thrilling battle between the remaining two players, it was the Italian who prevailed after managing a comeback of the ages.

No.3 seed Medvedev was leading comfortably with a 2-set lead in the finals and soon the script changed as Sinner posed a comeback of the ages. While many did not believe the Italian could do it, he proved everyone wrong by becoming one of the youngest Australian Open winners since Novak Djokovic. 

A disappointed Medvedev gave credit to his opponent for playing like a pro and revealed to be happy about reaching the finals and not losing early.

He won 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 to secure his first-ever major title and get his name engraved on the prestigious Australian Open Cup.

The whole Rod Laver Arena erupted with cheers for the Italian who posed a comeback of the ages and registered his first-ever major title win, Acknowledging the win was his opponent who understood the occasion and gave his regards to Sinner.

You’re winning a lot of tournaments, playing a lot of finals, winning a lot of matches. Probably it’s not your last grand slam. But I hope I can try to get the next one if we play in the final.

This is the third loss for Medvedev at the Australian Open finals who lost the championship after coming within touching distance. Regardless of his loss, he gave his regards to Sinner, hoping that they would meet in other finals in the future and there might be a change in the script.

After an exciting Australian final, the tour moves on towards their next Grand Slam which will begin after a few months.
