Trash Talk in sports is not a new thing. Many players around the world try to get under the skin of their opponents and make them nervy. They resort to trash talking, banter and even sometimes sledging.
However, tennis has always been known for its elegance and competitiveness. The Big Three — Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic seldom resorted to trash talk to defeat their opponents. But slowly, trash talking is making its entry into the sport.
Jessica Pegula has recently shared her opinions on trash talking. She believes and wants trash talking to be included in the sport as according to her it makes the competition so much fun. When this question was tossed to Ons Jabeur, she too agreed with it.
Daria Kasatkina is also in the same boat as the American and the Tunisian when it comes to the inclusion of trash talk in tennis. The Tennis Letter shared an excerpt of her statement on social media.
“Daria Kasatkina on trash talk in tennis: “I agree with Ons Jabeur. Tennis is different. I know fighters, basketball, in the US it’s a popular thing. We aren’t from the US so we’re not used to it. I was always educated that tennis is an intelligent sport. So I will go with that“,”the caption read.
Daria Kasatkina reached the semi-final of the Charleston Open. Here, she will take on Ons Jabeur.
