Roger Federer‘s retirement is getting closer as the 2022 Laver Cup approaches. The 3-day event commences on 23rd September at the O2 Arena in London and concludes on 25th September. Federer had to undergo multiple surgeries after the 2021 Wimbledon which forced him to retire without playing singles again.
Federer will instead by playing only in the Doubles. With much speculation on Federer’s partner after the Swiss maestro expressed his desire to team up with arch-rival turned friend Rafael Nadal, Team Europe has confirmed that the two legends will be teaming up on Day 1 of the tournament in Federer’s retirement match.

Federer and Nadal had earlier teamed up for Doubles in the inaugural edition in 2017. While they were on the team again in 2019, they teamed up with different players. With this being the farewell match for Federer’s glorious career, the two legends of the sport are once again coming together.
As expected, fans were enthralled to see the duo come together. Federer and Nadal will be taking on the all-American pair of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe in the second match of the evening session of Day-1 which will also be the final match for the day.
