Doubts loom over Martina Navratilova’s presence on Twitter after Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover as talks of Donald Trump’s resurgence on Twitter find grounds

Martina Navratilova and Elon Musk
The world’s richest person, Elon Musk takes over Twitter for $44 billion after months of tussling with the senior management. He now owns Twitter and is working toward reinstating free speech back. Many eminent personalities were banned on Twitter due to various grounds of hate speech over the last few years and now, with Musk’s take over, talks of bringing them back on the social media platform have found new ground.
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is a very active personality on social media and opines her ‘staunch’ opinion on Twitter without any hesitation. She has a left-leaning ideology and hence, often speaks against the typical right-wing mentality and the Republicans. With Musk’s takeover, there is a word around amongst the left wing that the extremists, like Donald Trump, who were banned from social media will now come back and propagate hate in the name of free speech.
Navratilova didn’t react directly to Musk’s take over but she did respond to a tweet related to Elon Musk. When asked whether she’ll stay on Twitter after Musk has bought it, she cryptically said that for now, she will.
“For now,” she responded indicating that she may leave the social media platform in the future if hate prevails.

Martina Navratilova ‘elated’ with Adidas’ decision to drop Kanye West

Kanye West was dropped by Adidas after his antisemitic statements on social media. Navratilova, who was very persistent for Adidas to drop West, celebrated the decision on Twitter.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness,” a statement from Adidas said.
Navratilova took a dig at the pop singer and called him desperate for attention. “Oops. Kanye is getting desperate?” she tweeted.
