Elina Mykhailivna Svitolina is a tennis competitor from Ukraine. She achieved career-high singles and doubles positions of No. 3 and 108, respectively. Svitolina has won 16 WTA Tour singles titles and three runner-up finishes.
Svitolina first entered the top 50 in the world in July 2013, rose to the top 20 in June 2015, and finally to the top 10 in May 2017, beating fellow countrywoman Alona Bondarenko to become the first Ukrainian woman to do so. She posts a picture of her on her social media accounts and shares how grateful she is for joining her fundraiser and contributing $80,000, with her adding another $20,000.
In this manner, only $20,000 needs to be collected to finish the residential complex’s restoration at 53 Kyivska Street in Iprin. According to a recent statement by Elina Svitolina, some individuals have inquired whether the conflict in Ukraine is still ongoing. This question was particularly distressing for the Ukrainian athlete.
Ever since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Svitolina has been a prominent advocate for her country’s cause. In her recent Instagram posts she shared a photo of her with the caption “A month has passed since I visited Bucha and Irpin and saw with my own eyes all the horror and consequences of the Russian “invasion… Lost and destroyed lives, the homes of our people”.
The Ukrainian athlete has been vocal in denouncing the atrocities committed and has also collected funds for her fellow citizens.

Svitolina is in Ukraine for the first time since Russia invaded the nation last year. Svitolina earned the bronze medal in singles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. She is the most recent person to demand an outright prohibition on athletes from Russia and Belarus due to the conflict.
“It’s going to be very sad, and the wrong message would be sent to the world if Olympics going to stay with the decision to put them (Russia and Belarus) under a neutral flag,” Svitolina said in the interview.
The threat to boycott the Paris Games if Russia and Belarus are permitted to participate was reiterated by Ukraine’s sports minister on Friday. Kyiv also pledged to urge other countries to join.
The Ukrainian Olympic Committee authorized plans to influence international sports officials over the next two months, including a discussion of a potential boycott, but did not officially declare one. Along with calling for a boycott, the leaders of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania asked the International Olympic Committee to exclude Russia from the games.
