“Girl should focus on school” – Emma Raducanu faces fans’ wrath after yet another no-show against Anhelina Kalinina in Doha
Raducanu suffered another early exit on the Tour this year as her comeback plans continue to fall miserably at every tournament.

World No. 262 Emma Raducanu continues to struggle for wins on the Tour. The Briton shot to fame by winning the 2021 US Open but has since failed to reach a single final since then.
Her latest defeat came at the first WTA-1000 event of the season, the 2024 Qatar Open. Raducanu made it into the main-draw courtesy of a wildcard by the organizers. She had been out of action since April 2023 due to a wrist injury.
Although she did have her protected ranking she was still ranked outside the Top-70 so wildcard was the better option. The former World No. 10 was up against World No. 30 Anhelina Kalinina in the first round in Qatar. The Ukrainian won the match 6-0, 7-6(6) in 1 hour and 39 minutes to knock out Raducanu.
After a dismal performance in the first set, the Briton fought well in the second set. Despite holding a set point that could have forced a third set, she was unable to capitalize on it. Kalinina was also not clinical but eventually won the tie on her third match point to advance into the second round.
Emma is now 3-4 for the season and her ranking continues to take hits. She certainly possesses the talent given she won a Grand Slam coming from the qualifiers. However, with constant injury struggles and frequent changes to her team certainly seem to have an effect on her performance.
Emma Raducanu targeted by fans yet again following her defeat
The defeat in the first round was again an invitation for hecklers and trollers to mock the MBE recipient. She has been one of the most abused players ever since she shot to fame in the 2021 season.
Her exit from Qatar was just another day that showed the ugly side of fans on social media for the players to deal with. Many called her to be a ‘one-hit wonder’ while others asked her to change her career.
With the win over Emma, the Ukrainian will now move into the second round. She will be up against eighth-seeded Jelena Ostapenko who had a bye in the first round.
As for Raducanu, she should likely be at next week’s Dubai Duty Free Championships, another WTA-1000 event but would have to depend on a wildcard. Wildcard confirmations are yet to be made official by the tournament so there remains a chance the Briton might be absent from next week’s event.
