Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is one of the most active celebrities on social media and has a very strong opinion on all social, political, and cultural matters. In spite of receiving backlash, she voices her opinion strongly and is very clear with her views. She identifies herself as a lesbian and often speaks against homophobic activities happening all around the world.

Because of his homophobic statements and attitude, Navratilova isn’t a big fan of former President Donald Trump. She often questions his comments and calls him out whenever needed. Back in 2018, in an interview with Jon Wertheim, Navratilova expressed her opinion on the gay rights issue and called people to stay vocal because society is going backward when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community.

“Well, I think people have caught up on the gay rights issue, but we are still sliding backward. I thought we were done fighting a lot of these battles. So, it’s more important to stay vocal and stay involved, to get involved,” she said.

Navratilova pointed out that the world is taking some leaps when it comes to human rights but the USA is going backward, indirectly blaming then President, Trump. She said that she saw a sign from a hardware store that said ‘No gays allowed’. She added that all of this is coming right from the top- from Trump and his supporters.

“Well, the erosion of human rights around the world. There had been so much progress made but in America we are going backward. I just saw a sign that somebody posted on Twitter and it was from a hardware store. No gays allowed. On a hardware store. And that is all coming from the top, you know. That is all coming from Trump and his enablers,” she said.
