Novak Djokovic was upset by Jannik Sinner in the semi-final of the Australian Open, where the Serb was in a quest for a 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic created history at the 2023 US Open when he became the first men’s tennis player to win 24 Grand Slam titles.
However, just when he was on track for a 25th, he was majorly disappointed by his young Italian opponent. Sinner has defeated the 24-time Grand Slam title champion in three out of their last four encounters. This speaks to the might of the young Italian.
However, the Australian Open is considered to be Djokovic’s territory. He holds ten Australian Open titles and has never lost in a semi-final match at Melbourne. Therefore, it came as a shock and a point of frustration for his fans when Djokovic had to exit Australia and that too in the semi-final.
The Serb’s fans have all gathered on Twitter (now called X) to voice out their frustration and disbelief against the Serb losing to Sinner.

Regardless of their disappointment, fans also praised Sinner for his efforts and success against the 26-year-old veteran.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
At the end of the day, it was ultimately Sinner’s great understanding of the sport that finally put him ahead of the Serb. While it was expected of Djokovic to win the semi-final and ultimately the title, the Australian Open 2024 title is up for grabs and can turn in anyone’s favor moving forward.

Novak Djokovic has been open about the troubles he had with scheduling at the Australian Open. He had opinionated that the scheduling was in such a way that the body did not have much time to recover for the next match.
However, Todd Woodbridge had a different say regarding the issue. He said that the Serb had only himself to blame for scheduling conflicts.
He started the tournament first, on he Sunday, and it's my understanding he was very happy to do that because he felt that gave him extended rest throughout the tournament.Said the Australian.
Djokovic had accepted to open his Australian Open 2024 on the opening day when given the option to do so. With the Serb accepting the offer came widespread chaos with the scheduling times, which ultimately became a barrier to him winning his 25th Grand Slam.
