Netflix releases the complete trailer of the tennis documentary Break Point and fans go wild all over social media. Part 1 of the documentary will be released on January 13th. The documentary is already hyped due to a number of reasons with the first one being that something of this kind has never happened before in tennis. Also, the documentary’s producers are the same as that of F1:Drive to survive, which was a super hit and made the formula 1 race more popular.
The Twitter world welcomed the trailer wholeheartedly and there were tweets getting flooded under the official poster of the same by the ATP Tour handle. Some users write, “Can’t wait for January 13th” and some were even curious to know the episode structure of the series. The first five episodes will be released as part 1 whereas the remaining five are expected to be released by June 2023.
With Australian Open about to start, 3 days prior chosen for the release was considered a “wise option. But some were of the opinion that this could have been holidays when there were no major tournaments going on. Some also hoped that the sport will gain more popularity with this.
There is also another angle for the Twitter reaction which is the controversial inclusion of Nick Kyrgios in topping the list of promising players in the future. Some also opined that a player who is already 27 with not even a single instance of being in the Top-10 ranking is not a big thing.
The episode distribution and featured players of the Break Point
The Netflix series will feature the next big talents of the tennis world. This also means that players like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Serena Williams will be minimal. Also the current world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz and former world No.1 Daniil Medvedev are not part of the featured players.
The players featured in part 1 are Felix Auger-Aliassime, Paula Badosa, Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, Ons Jabeur, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Nick Kyrgios, Casper Ruud, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari, Sloane Stephens, Iga Swiatek, Frances Tiafoe, Ajla Tomljanovic, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The series will also have talks with coaches and retired players. This includes Paul Annacone, Chris Evert, Patrick Mouratoglou, Toni Nadal, Martina Navratilova, Andy Roddick, and Maria Sharapova.
Episodes 1 and 2 will feature the Australian Open 2022 with Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkiknakis as the protagonists for the first whereas Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanovic will lead for the second. Taylor Fritz and Maria Sakkari will be featured in the third episode at the Indian Wells tournament whereas the fourth episode will be centered around Madrid Open with protagonists as Ons Jabeur and Paula Badosa. The fifth episode of the French Open will be about Casper Ruud and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
June 2023 is the expected release date of part 2 which will also be having five episodes. Featured tournaments for the same are Wimbledon, Eastbourne, Queens, US Open, WTA Finals, and ATP Finals. Here also, the featured players are expected to be more or less the same.
