British prodigy Emma Raducanu broke into the circuit when she won the US Open in 2021. She rose to popularity and created history by winning it as a qualifier in the Open Era. But failed to impress everyone with her underwhelming performances throughout the season. She added a new feather to his cap for featuring on the Guinness Book of World Records in 2023.
She had been bothered with a wrist injury that unexpectedly ended her season. Her best performance of the season was at the Korea Open where she reached the semifinals but had to retire in the middle of the match due to an injury. The former World No 10 even failed to defend her US Open title which took a toll on her rankings. She started the year as World No.10 but eventually finished the year out of the Top 50 in the WTA rankings.
The Guinness Book of World Records enlists records of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. Finding one’s name in the book is quite an extraordinary achievement, Emma Raducanu went on to get featured on the front page of the sports section. Her iconic moment of the US Open was also added to the page where she stood beside Lelyah Fernandez.
Both the tennis players were holding their respective trophies. It was quite a legendary moment for her to represent the tennis fraternity. But it was not well-appreciated by fans who felt she isn’t the right person to be in the spotlight. They felt that her performance was quite a big disappointment for all.
