His opponent, Thompson also received quite a welcome being the crowd’s favorite but the Nadal fans definitely had the edge and filled the stadium with chants of his name. With the semi-finals on the line, both the players are back from an outstanding victory as they look to make this one count and head on to the semi-finals of the first tournament of the year.
Rafael Nadal’s comeback streak at the Brisbane International
After a year of injuries, the former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal finally makes a return at the Brisbane International, where he previously had a lot of success.

He was up against a familiar opponent on return, but that did not stop the Spaniard from displaying his skillset and winning his first match on return. The Spaniard now faces the resilience of Thompson who is quite fresh since his last match. After some good rallies between the two, Nadal broke through the defenses of the Australian to win the first set 7-5. With both players looking in good touch, the match promises to be a close one to end the night on a high note. With only one position at the semi-finals table, both the players will try and secure their spot in the top 4.
