Garbine Muguruza declared her engagement to boyfriend Arthur Borges in an interview with the Spanish Maganize HOLA. “It felt weird. I was thinking of something else and then when he proposed I started crying. I didn’t know how to react. I said yes in the midst of tears, it was very romantic”, said Garbine Muguruza.

Muguruza shared the beautiful story of the entire setting of the proposal. Her boyfriend proposed to her at the Marbella Club hotel which is one of Muguruza’s favorites. Arthur Borges arranged a little table under a tree and the setting was really romantic. Muguruza was not expecting anything like this and when it happened, she got really surprised. She did not know how to react but was filled with so much joy that tears rolled down her cheek. She obviously said ‘YES’.

Muguruza affirmed that they planned to get married next year but they have not started any preparations. She also expressed her wish to get married in her home country, Spain.

Muguruza went on to tell the story of how they met. Arthur Borges was a fan of hers and asked for a selfie on the street near Central Park. She found her handsome and they started meeting at Central Park every day which was very romantic to her. She also said that Arthur Borges was not involved professionally in tennis, and works in a fashion that made her more attracted to him.
