Denis Shapovalov | Tennis News | FirstSportz
Denis Shapovalov

Top seed Daniil Medvedev will be up against third seed Denis Shapovalov in the first semifinal. Medvedev is returning from injury and doesn’t bode well with clay either. On the contrary, Shapovalov is in good form and even defeated Rafael Nadal on clay. The Canadian will be the favorite to win the match.

In the second semifinal, second seed Casper Ruud will lock horns against 4th seed Reilly Opelka. Ruud is one of the best clay-court players on the current tour while Opelka relies on his kick serve to score points on the red dirt. Ruud will start the favorite and shouldn’t have much trouble getting past the American giant.

In the repeat of 2021 final, Denis Shapovalov will face Casper Ruud in the final of the 2022 Geneva Open. Shapovalov will be high on confidence after a good outing in Rome and will want to avenge his quarterfinal loss to Ruud. Taking nothing away from Shapovalov, but Ruud is a better player on the red dirt than him and hence he will be the favorite to defend his title at Geneva once again.
