World No. 3 Paula Badosa came under the spotlight of tennis fans on social media over her recent Q&A session on Instagram. The Spanish No. 1 opened the house for questions on Instagram and one question landed her in trouble as fans raced to criticise her.

Asked in Spanish, “With what 3 players would you play mixed doubles?”, Badosa named Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Nick Kyrgios. While the first two names did not get many reactions, the mention of Kyrgios had fans riled up and they criticised the Spaniard for naming the controversial Australian.

With Kyrgios earning himself the moniker of ‘bad boy of tennis’, the Australian is not a favourite of many. With him currently under investigation on domestic violence case as well from former girlfriend Chiara Passari, many tennis fans have turned against the Australian.

In this situation, Badosa picking the Wimbledon runner-up had the fans quite angry and many asked her to reconsider her choice. With Kyrgios always in the news for his antics on the court including fights, hurling abuses and unsportsmanlike behaviour, Badosa‘s reply made her a recipient of some serious flak from fans.

While neither Badosa or Kyrgios have made any comment further on the topic, it was strange to see the hatred towards Kyrgios. While he has certainly created this image of himself, as a player, he has been praised by the legends for his talent and the arsenal of shots he has at his disposal.

Also, with Kyrgios the reigning Australian Open doubles champion, Badosa’s choice is quite reasonable to team up with the Australian who has been on a resurgence this season on the Tour.
