Stefanos Tsitsipas thinks that the blame is on Nick Kyrgios for ‘destroying’ their relationship. The Australian Open finalist stated that he did nothing wrong and that the Aussie is to blame for their friendship’s demise. The pair were friends and did not have any animosity before the 2022 Wimbledon.
The pair were involved in an explosive third-round match at last year’s Wimbledon, where Kyrgios came out on top. Tsitsipas accused him of bullying, while Kyrgios wanted the Greek to be reprimanded for hitting a ball into the crowd. In the post-match conference, both players had some select words to say.
In Netflix’s latest documentary, Break Point, when Tsitsipas was asked to say a few words about the No. 1 Australian player, he said that Kyrgios became a “devil” on the court. This just adds to the tension between both players. Tsitsipas also said it depends on how you “wake up every day.”
‘He’s the one who destroyed our relationship, I didn’t do anything. I was just trying to play and someone on the other side of the network was looking for trouble, he was clowning… It depends on how you wake up each day.‘
Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic in the Australian Open final, while Kyrgios pulled out of the tournament after suffering from a knee injury.

The Australian Open came to a successful conclusion, making the opening round of the 2023 tennis season an interesting one. The sport, however, never really stops, and after the first Grand Slam of the season was completed Down Under, it was back to the routine ATP tour schedule. With that being said, it seems like Tsitsipas is set to return to the ATP Tour after his defeat in Melbourne.
This month, Stefanos Tsitsipas is expected to participate in two competitions. The Rotterdam Open will start on February 13 as the first event. Last year, he qualified for the event’s final, and this year, he plans to advance even further. The Greek will then join Carlos Alcaraz in Acapulco on February 27 for the Mexican Open.
