“His attitude to work, passion, and professionalism reminds me of Lleyton Hewitt” coach Darren Cahill backs Jannik Sinner having the potential to become a future Grand Slam champion

Jannik Sinner won his first ATP title of the year at the Croatia Open in Umag defeating Carlos Alcaraz in three sets in grueling two hours. He was down the first set but bounced back brilliantly with amazing baseline exhanges winning the next two sets and eventually winning his title. This was Sinner’s second win against the Spaniard as he had defeated Alcaraz in the fourth-round match at Wimbledon 2022 in a four-set game.
Sinner has been a consistent performer this season and has reached six tour-level quarterfinals in 2022 prior to the ATP250 clay court event. He reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 Australian Open, his second in his career but lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. He became the fifth Italian player to reach the quater-finals in Melbourne.
“Jannik Sinner’s game has improved over the years” Darren Cahill

Jannik Sinner‘s coach Darren Cahill, recently in an interview, spoke highly of the Italian player and talked about the improvements he has been noticing since their association before the start of Wimbledon. Cahill has also coached great players like Andre Agassi and Lleyton Hewitt. Cahill is proud of Sinner and even compares him with former player Hewitt. He is a significant player in the history of tennis as he claimed 80 match victories and became the youngest man to have finished a year at number one. He clinched his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2001 defeating the legendary Pete Sampras.
He said “Jannik has added a lot of things to his game, especially in his forward play and when he comes up to the net. He has made great progress over the past two years, first with Ricardo Piatti and then with Simone Vagnozzi. He must anticipate, understand what type of tennis he wants to practice in two years, and do everything to move in this direction. Jannik reminds me of Lleyton Hewitt. His attitude to work, his passion, his professionalism.“
He further added that the way he is playing at the moment, if he continues to do so then it won’t be far ahead when we see the Italian as a champion over the next few years as he has the potential to win. He added “Technically, he’s a completely different tennis player, but the same flame burns inside him. He is one of those players capable of winning Grand Slam tournaments, and even now, and not necessarily in several years. Is it possible at the US Open 2022? He moves well on hard, and his game has enough power.“
