Former World No. 1 Serena Williams is currently navigating through life away from the court. The 41-year-old is leaving a lofty legacy behind her, yet her heart is not ready to part ways from the competitive sport. On several occasions, she has revealed the difficulty of adjusting to the new life and the thought of not hitting the training sessions is still new for her.

There are so many ways to describe the American tennis legend. In a career spanning more than two decades, there is nothing she did not achieve. As one of the most decorated athletes of all time, Serena has won 23 Grand Slam titles and four Olympic gold medals, and dozens of other accolades. Still, the younger one of the famed ‘Williams Sisters’ feels ‘torn’ when the topic of retirement pops up in front of her.

Serena still believes she has the talent and spirit to carry on in the competition. “I for sure feel more at peace now,” she told E! News. “It’s interesting. I think I feel torn because I’m still able to play at a very, very, very high level. With that being said, I always wanted to leave the game playing at a very high level.”

Williams once again mentioned how she is trying to adjust to the life that she was never able to live because of the schedule of the tour. “But it’s hard because it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I could still play, and I could still do all that stuff. ‘But I’m inch by inch leaning away, inch by inch embracing it. “Cause I’ve been playing tennis for literally, literally my entire life. My entire being and knowing are just what I’ve done. So now, I’m inch by inch finding my way,” she continued.

Williams, who turned pro way back in 1995, is enjoying her time away from the court. She is currently spending as much time as she can with her five-year-old daughter Olympia. Williams hopes to become a great role model for her daughter when it comes to hard work.

“I hope she realizes that I was pretty good at my job and the hard work that it takes to be good at it,” she expressed herself in the same interview. “So, that’s what I would hope, just taking away the hard work and the excellence that you have to put your body through and the discipline that you also have to put your body through.”

Recently the tennis icon rocked American Football when she starred in a pair of commercials for the NFL Super Bowl. She showed her range to the fans while appearing for Rémy Martin and Michelob beer giving a solid reason for her fans to cheer.
