Over the last few decades, the ‘Big 3’ of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have dominated the men’s circuit. Now that youngsters are coming of age and trying to pose a challenge some people felt that the young generation will soon be more than capable of taking over and winning multiple titles. But unfortunately, none of that has happened as Rafael Nadal is still going strong and Novak Djokovic is still World No.1.
Rafael Nadal has been in sensational form as he won his 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open, he went one up on both Djokovic and Federer. He continued his fantastic form on tour aswell until he got injured and had to miss the start of the clay-court season. The Spaniard has shown no signs of slowing down as he played two epic clashes against David Goffin and Carlos Alcaraz in consecutive matches at the Madrid Open.
Similarly, Novak Djokovic is a bit rusty as he missed the Australian Open and the following tournaments due to his vaccination stance. But he reached the finals at the Serbia Open and again in Madrid, he reached the semifinals and gave Alcaraz a real run for his money.
So recently in a chat with Corriello dello Sport, Jannik Sinner shared that he is not sure if the next generation of players are ready to take charge of the change in guard in men’s tennis as the legends are still going strong and he believes that they will continue to do so in the coming years aswell.

Along with Carlos Alcaraz, Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner is thought to be the next superstar considering his age and talent. But the youngster who is ranked 13th in the world is unsure of when the next generation of stars will be able to take over from the ‘Big 3″.
“The best seem to be in trouble but the truth is that Nadal has won the Australian Open and that Djokovic, who has chosen not to be vaccinated and has played little so far, will find his form again in view of Paris,” Jannik Sinner said. “I don’t know if we’re ready for a turnaround but I’m certainly lucky to be there in the leading group. It’s fun tennis to play and, I think, to watch.”
Jannik Sinner who is currently in Rome and will be in action at the Italian Open believes that Roger Federer can also return and spring a surprise just like Nadal and Djokovic. He feels that the Swiss can never be written off and is enough capable of turning it around even at the ebb of his career.
Jannik Sinner will start his Italian Open campaign against Spain’s Pedro Martinez as he prepares for the upcoming Roland Garros.
